The Atlanta Wind Symphony (AWS) will be holding our next open auditions for all instruments for the 2026-2027 concert season starting in late Spring 2026. Auditions are accepted and encouraged for all wind instruments and percussion.

Auditions will consist of two rounds:

Round 1 of auditions will be virtual, consisting of a video recording of audition requirements. Audition video recordings may be submitted via YouTube from Friday May 15th through Wednesday July 1st (at 11:59 pm). Finalists will be notified by mid-July 2026.

Round 2 will be for finalists, who will then participate in a live audition in mid-August. This audition may include requirements from Round 1, excerpts, plus sight reading. Finalist audition results will be shared late August 2026.

Round 1 virtual audition requirements for wind instruments:

1. Major scales - selected for each instrument, played without music, medium speed, up and down scale. Arpeggios following the scale are accepted, but not required.
2. Chromatic scale - full range of instrument, played without music, medium speed, up and down scale.
3. Two musical selections of 1-2 minutes in length each (such as etudes or movements from the standard solo repertoire), one showcasing lyrical ability, and one showcasing technical ability. No accompaniment.
4. Also included in the audition materials:
• A brief bio with your musical background, so we know a bit about your education and playing history.
• PDFs of the musical selections being played.

Atlanta Wind Symphony (AWS) is a volunteer community wind symphony. We have a minimum age requirement of 18 years old. AWS rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 pm in the Chattahoochee High School Band Room in Johns Creek, Georgia. Our concert season for 2026-2027 is from September through the end of June, during which we perform 5-6 concerts per year.
