Featured Member: Warren Abrahams

Warren began playing timpani when he entered Jamesville-DeWitt (NY) Junior High School in 1966, and joined AWS in 2006 after an opening for timpani and percussion became available. Warren studied under Gordon Stout and John Beck, while attending the University of Rochester (Eastman School of Music). He has performed in orchestras featuring noted guest conductors such as Arthur Fiedler, Victor Borge and "Doc" Severenson. His favorite AWS memory was the June 2012 performance of the Saint Sean's Organ Symphony #3 Finale performed at the 2012 RUMC Patriotic Concert. He also enjoyed performing the Shostakovich Piano Concerto #2 with former AWS Director, Capt. Paul Bamonte conducting his own transcription. When he's not playing with the AWS or the Callanwolde Concert Band, Warren enjoys collecting and trading Olympic Pins and traveling. His son, Marc, is a recent graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington having earned his bachelor's degree in Mathematics education.
